If you would like to send Odyssey a cheque please make it out to 'Odyssey' and send it with a giftaid declaration to:

Odyssey
Trefassey Bank
Llangrove
Ross-on-Wye
Herefordshire
HR9 6EY

Odyssey's online donation system is managed by the Charities Aid Foundation who are equipped to provide a professional, completely secure system at minimal cost.

Giftaid is the Inland Revenue's (remarkably simple) scheme for repaying tax on donations to charity. If you complete the form, which can be downloaded here, and send it with your donation we can claim an additional 28% back from the Chancellor. Online donations can also be giftaided, just follow the links above.

If you wish to make a major donation and would like to pay it in directly to our bank please contact us for details.

Legacies

One of the ways you could support Odyssey is to leave a gift in your Will. Whether you are amending your current Will, or drawing up a new one it is relatively simple (and tax efficient) to leave a gift. However, it is important that you seek professional legal advice and are aware that all charitable legacies are exempt from tax. You may find the following wording helpful when drawing up your Will:

To leave a legacy to Odyssey for a set sum,

“I give free of tax to The Odyssey Project (UK Registered Charity Number:1045259) of Trefassey Bank, Llangrove, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, HR9 6EY the sum of £_____ for the general purposes of Odyssey and I declare that the receipt of their Treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge”

To leave a legacy to Odyssey for a percentage of your estate,

“Subject to the payment of my debts, funeral and testamentary expenses, I give the whole/ ___% of my estate not otherwise disposed of by this my Will to The Odyssey Project (UK Registered Charity Number:1045259) of Trefassey Bank, Llangrove, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, HR9 6EY and I declare that the receipt of their Treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge”

If you do decide to leave a legacy to Odyssey, we would be grateful if you would let us know, so that we can thank you properly on behalf of those who will benefit.

Giving through your Self Assessment Tax Return

From September 2004 it will be possible for you to nominate Odyssey to receive tax repayments due to you as donations. You will find Odyssey and its code number on the list of participating charities on the Inland Revenue website. The code is also given here and is: KAR03WG. This can be entered in the appropriate place in your tax return. The repayment will automatically be made direct to Odyssey.

Money for Mobile Phones

Odyssey belongs to a mobile phone recycling scheme run by Greener Solutions. This not only helps to reduce the enormous waste caused by the 20,000 tons of phones thrown away in Europe each year, it also raises money for Odyssey; we get £2-50 for each mobile phone sent in whatever its condition.

If you have an old mobile phone at home, download a freepost label here and send it in. Ask your friends to do the same and if you are in a position to collect numbers of old mobiles, you could start a box scheme; when you have 30 or so we can arrange to have them collected free of charge.
