Swedish Canoe Adventure
Join us for a great Swedish Canoe Adventure on the Hårkan River
to raise funds for Odyssey in September 2017
The Swedish Canoe Adventure challenge will take place in the beautiful wilderness area of the Hårkan river and lakes not far from the Northern town of Östersund. There will be five days of travel in open canoes, and we will be self-sufficient carrying all our supplies for camping, cooking and eating with us. The total distance will be approximately 90km with the first 50km being mainly on lakes, and the last 40km on the river.
When? The event will leave the UK on Monday 11th September and will return on Monday 18th September.
Who is it for? In terms of the canoeing, this is a relatively easy trip, and so is suitable for beginners. What will make it more challenging is the unsupported nature of the trip, and the fact that we will camping in the wilderness, and cooking over open fires in true back woods style, and very much looking after ourselves.
Fundraising and cost.
The challenge will be to raise a total of £2,600 which can be achieved through sponsorship, organising fundraising events or a combination of both.
The cost of the trip will be around £1,100 with the remaining £1,500 going to Odyssey. Some people like to pay the costs themselves and fundraise the rest, others prefer to fundraise the whole amount. Signing up for the trip early will give you plenty of time to raise the necessary funds.
