Evaluation

closeup image

Evaluation questionnaires designed in consultation with the Department of Social Science Research at the University of Stirling are sent out four weeks after the end of the programme; these invite participants to report the effect Odyssey has had on them marked against a 'Lickert' five point scale ('1' indicating a very negative effect and '5' indicating a very positive effect) for each of the areas below. The scores below are from 96 responses.

Average scores for the 6 assessment areas
Area affected (click to see graph) Average score
Confidence 4.22
Handling uncertainty 4.08
Enjoyment of life 4.25
Willingness to undertake new experiences 4.22
Energy levels 4.10
Optimism 4.25

A notable finding is the absence of negative ratings (a single mark of 2 among all responses)'. These consistently high scores are supported by the respondents' written comments on the programme.

A more detailed summary of the evaluation questionnaires is given in the graphs below.
