Race the Train has to be one of the quirkiest events in the running calendar!

It is an annual event which takes place in magnificent scenery to the South of Cader Idris, Mid Wales. The race takes place, as far as practical, alongside the route of the Talyllyn Railway on its journey from Tywyn to Abergynolwyn and back. In order to achieve this all courses comprise a mixture of public roads, lanes, un-metalled roads, tracks, agricultural land and rough grazing pastures.

There are races of different lengths (3.5 miles, 5.5 miles, 10km and 14 miles), so there is something for everyone. Odyssey is the Official Charity for the event, and we are encouraging as many people as possible to run and fundraise for us.

If you are interested to learn more about the event, or to sign up for one of the runs, which this year takes place on Saturday 19th August, please visit the Race the Train official website: www.racethetrain.com

Alternatively you might like to come along as a volunteer to help man our charity marquee or shake a tin – if so, please contact Hugo Iffla, the Odyssey Project Director : hugo@odyssey.org.uk ; 01654 710225.
