Why should I donate to Odyssey?

There are many cancer charities which support research, or establishments such as hospices or nursing care. Some offer holidays for people with cancer, and their carers. But Odyssey is unique in the way it combines the benefits of the natural world and the challenges, to help people re-build confidence and zest for life.

Furthermore, Odyssey has great track record having run nearly 70 courses over the last 16 years, with great success. We believe that an Odyssey course should be accessible to all whatever their financial circumstances, so no charge is made for attending. Thus we rely completely on fundraising and donations to enable people to attend.

How will donations be used?

Odyssey is a very efficient organisation with very low overheads, so nearly all income goes into providing the experiences for our participants.

How can a donation help?

We run courses for up to 20 participants, and each course costs around £20,000 to run. Therefore a donation of £1000 would fund one person to attend, and £20,000 would fund a complete course. Of course, every donation, however small, is of value and very much appreciated.

Why do courses cost so much?

Every course is carefully devised to enable a range of exciting and dramatic challenges to be offered in a supportive and safe environment. These are top quality experiences led by top quality staff, with great attention paid to every detail, both in the preparation and delivery of every course. Nothing is left to chance. Great locations, great experiences, and with each and every individual's needs and aspirations taken into account.

How many people do we want to provide places for?

For the first few years Odyssey ran 3 courses a year in Kent with 16 participants on each. Our long term aim is to run 12 courses per year (3 in each of 4 separate locations around the UK) with up to 20 participants on each – i.e. an annual total of 240 places per year.
